Crystal Cuckow
Featured Artist Bio
Crystal, has been an art instructor for 26 years teaching a wide spectrum of art mediums from 2D- to 3D arts. Her inspirations are Sheppard Fairy for his modern innovation and creativity. His street art and graphic design techniques inspire my artist pallet and subject matter. Margaret Kean for her courage to paint from her heart. Frida Kahlo’s expressionism, Japanese culture and mythology. “My subject matter can often be Aquatic in nature” stated Crystal, “ but symbolic in meaning. I frequently reference the unpredictability of nature as well as life and my ability to or lack thereof to adapt to my environment in a heathy, productive manner. I am obsessed with achieving depth and movement in my art, not only visually but emotionally and spiritually. When it comes to the visual aspects, I try to strike a balance somewhere between controlling my brushstrokes and allowing the unpredictability of loose wet on wet brushstrokes to develop without too much control.”
