About

Kelly Jo Smith loves directing live theatre and working with young actors.  She has directed over 70 high school productions and serves as director of the Children's Theatre of La Junta's summer  theatre program for young actors. She is a graduate of Missouri's Truman University with a degree BSE in theatre and a minor in English and holds a Master's Degree from Adams State University in English.  She is a double diamond member of the National Forensic League and was named the H.S. Theatre Educator of the Year in 1995. She has served as the Chairman of the LJHS's English Department and has served on the Board of Directors of the Picketwire Center For The Performing and Visual Arts. She has served as an adjunct faculty member for Otero Jr. College having taught both English 121/122 and Public Speaking on campus. She makes her home in La Junta, Colorado with daughter, Hannah.
